about

A dedication to family - past, present, future...
Music is a gift.
I wrote this song some seven years ago for my parents.
It took on a life of its own. I also composed the bell peal
derived from the violin part which has yet to be recorded.
Enjoy the season of peace.

lyrics

Take the lantern light
Walk the path of pine
Across the creaking foot bridge
Bound by deep snow
The wind howls and curls...'round your petticoat
Old Brutus barks to let you know you're close

The woodstoves are burning full on this eve
Through the chimney smoke the Saviour appears

(Chorus)
Down a county road lined with Christmas Trees
Bells resound with distant melodies
The icy marsh cracks beneath your sole
The best gift you've ever had is family, so close

Midnight mass and stained glass, echoes on mason stone and brick...
Winter's formative years
The rum & eggnog are thick
Time slips like a toboggan down a slope
Little board games, nutmeg, wishbones for giddy kids

(Chorus)
Down a county road lined with Christmas Trees
Bells resound with distant memories
The icy marsh cracks beneath your sole
The best gift you've ever had is family, held close
